Giulio Antonio Acquaviva d’Aragona Suite
Giulio Antonio Acquaviva of Aragon was a valiant strategist and fighter. His fame is linked with the campaign for the reconquest of Otranto (1481), during which he died in an ambush. He’s buried with his wife in the Church of Santa Maria dell’Isola in Conversano, in a funerary monument made by the Apulian sculptor NuzzoBarba. Writers and poets like Sannazzaro and Pontano celebrated him.
